BBC Researcher looking for information

BBC Three are making a
documentary about the history of single mothers in the UK over the past 100
years. The documentary will share the personal stories of generations of women
who have had experience of being unmarried mums or single mums, from the 1920's
to today. The BBC would like to hear from people who lived at the Carleton Homes, particularly during the time
of the Poor Law in the early part of the century (1920-1940), whose mothers were
unmarried and therefore had to go to the work house (or could not care for their
children), which subsequently resulted in them living at the care home. In doing
so, by telling stories like these, we hope to paint a picture as to what it was
like for mothers and their children during this time, and what it was like to
spend time at homes such as the Carlton
Homes.
If you would be happy to share your stories any conversations, at this
research stage, would be in the strictest confidence. Contact Jenny Williams in the documentary
department on jenny.williams@bbc.co.uk
or 020 800 83825.

the Prince of Wales Club that we used at the last reunion, we did not have to pay a penny for the use of the room and i thought they accommodated us very well, myself George and Joan Banks were the last to leavebut i cant remember what time it were.
